The prehistoric settlement of Sesklo grew up on the Kastraki hill and surrounding area, near the modern village of Sesklo. Sesklo was first ocupied in the middle of the 7 th millennium. The architectural remains of this period are scanty, and consist of elliptical trenches dug into the ground with walls projecting above ground - level, made of branches and mud. The people of this age lived by stock-raising and farming. A large number of bone tools, obsidian and flint blades, stone tools and a few clay figurines come from this period.
