Khan el Khalili, Cairo: 9 reviews and 13 photos

Shown twice a week for free, the Tannoura Sufi Dance Show is a beautifully executed event. The live music and dance show is a more modern adaptation of traditional Sufi religious dance, also known as whirling dervishes. The show takes place in the beautiful courtyard of the recently restored Wikala el-Ghouri, an old caravanserai near Khan el Khalili and el-Azhar, creating a perfect ambiance for the show. The Arabic music, using traditional middle eastern instruments, along with the mesmerising dance of the participants is highly hypnotic and photogenic. Bring your camera and catch the show at 8pm every Saturday and Wednesday... it is one of the few free events or experiences in the whole of Egypt!
