Ireland Off The Beaten Path: 311 reviews and 462 photos
Beara Peninsula on the westcoast of Ireland is one of the 5 peninsulas reaching into the Atlantic in the south-west of Ireland and in my personal opinion it is much more interesting and scenic than the much more popular Ring of Kerry. Unfortunately most of the tourists skip this part of Ireland, so you will find empty roads all over and lots of places for "wild" camping in your motorhome .
Great and endless beaches, mostly without sand, but with a great mountain-scenery across the bay. The roads are mostly single-track-roads with passing-places and you will have to share them with sheep and cows.
Beara Peninsula is west of Glengarriff : most of the southern part is in Co. Cork, while a small part in the north of the peninsula (east of Ardgroom) is in Co.Kerry.
