After shopping at Hédiard, it was off to Maille (on the same Place de la Madeleine) to pick up another item for Sandye: purple Cassis-flavored mustard.

She was such a cool friend and I was constantly learning new, interesting things about Paris through her: for instance, that one can buy plum-hued berry-flavored mustard! She was also my fab, foodie friend (she wrote a great food blog that even David Lebowitz knew about!) and we often schlepped around Cincinnati looking for the cool, new places.

If you've heard of the historic boutique where people line up with their stoneware crocks to refill with Dijon mustard, then this is the place! Ahead of me was a lady in a fur coat doing just that. Naturally, I had to get a photo.

And of course, like other specialty food shops in Paris this is a great place to bring back an inexpensive gift from Paris.

What to buy: *Dijon Mustard in 25 various flavors including: white wine, cassis, myrtle & violette, hazelnut, balsamic vinegar, orange confit & gingembre (orange & ginger), sun-dried tomato, mango with Thai spices, fig & coriander (that sounds interesting), etc.
*Fruit Vinegars
*Cornichons (Spicy, Hot Pickles)
*Pretty faience pottery
