Sooner or later, every visitor to Easter Island discovers Anakena Beach. It is the most popular beach on the island. However, I believe that Ovahe is perhaps the most beautiful beach. It is set against some rock cliffs, and has a nice pink sand waterfront. It also receives far fewer visitors than the more famous Ovahe. Although swimming here is officially not recommended, most visitors enjoy a jump in the water. The current is a little stronger here than Anakena and sharks have been sighted before in the area. There are a couple of shallow caves set against the cliff. Although there are no archeological sites at the beach, it makes for a nice visit.

Directions: It is just to the east of Anakena beach. A dirt road leads to the beach.
