Old Uppsala is one of Scandinavia's most unusual ancient monument areas. Visit Gamla Uppsala museum and learn more about the centuries-old myths surrounding the area. On display are finds from the royal mounds, tales of the ancient dynasties and pagan gods, and models of the landscape as it looked through history. Follow on a fascinating trip through the oceans of time, from 6th century local heathen kingdoms to the religious upheaval of the Viking era and the building of the cathedral beginning in the year 1100. Models, slideshows, audio recordings, and children's corner with Viking playship.

Open: Sept 1-Dec 14 and Jan 2-April 30 Wed, Sat-Sun 12noon-3pm. May 1-Aug 31 daily 11am-5pm. Groups welcome other hours by arrangement
