Almost on top of Mt. Popa
by Mique

Climbing to the top of Mt. Popa is both a good workout as well as a nice experience. Especially when you arrive on top to find that the monkeys have a little nursery just below that top (so we could photograph but not reach it). And we were there just in time to see the little ones.

There is, of course, a pagoda on the top of this mountain. Well, actually Mt. Popa isn't a mountain but an extinct volcano. And it is home to the 37 NAT-spirits.

Mt. Popa is easy to do in a half day from Bagan/Nyaung-U provided you have a car. If you go by yourself (and use a pick-up to get here), you'll be needing more time. It can also be included easily on a trip back to Yangon after visiting Bagan.
