"Atlanta's Centennial Park" Georgia Things to Do Tip by JREllison

Georgia Things to Do: 129 reviews and 222 photos

The story goes that less than two decades ago the neighborhood where Centennial Olympic Park' mpw stands was a run-down part of town. Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games CEO Billy Payne was looking out his office window and a brilliant inspiration came to him - to convert yhis multi-block eyesore into a glorious gathering spot for visitors and residents to enjoy during the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games and for years to come.

The park website provides detailed information of park policies ande upcomming events. We found the size of the park in itself provided plent of room to relax and enjoy, to explore, and simply to think of the events that took place here back in 1996.
