Catholic Church, Sibiu: 7 reviews and 26 photos

Sibiu's beaqutiful Roman Catholic cathedral was built between 1726 and 1733 in baroque style. The tower was attached to the nave in 1738. The complete renovated interior is magnificent with its gold-laced walls and colorful ceiling frescoes.

On the southern wall of the choir is the stone grave of Otto Ferdinand de Abensberg, commander of Transylvania between 1744 and 1747. The stained - glass windows were made in Budapest in 1901 and the painting of the nave was done by Ludwig Kandler in 1904.

I went to a Sunday morning service here and the interesting thing was it was conducted in German.
