The tomb, itself, is based on a huge marbled base - plinth - featuring 40 meter high minarets rising from each corner of the tomb, serving to frame the tomb in perfect symmetry. To walk up onto the plinth and get in line to view the interior of the tomb, you must either remove your shoes or put the over socks that were given to you at the ticket office over your shoes. For us, the serpentine line to gain entrance to the tomb?s interior took about 30 minutes.
