In the old days, you take the boat from Bukit Tambun through the river before crossing the Penang Southc Channel Sea to Pulau Aman.

Today, there is a new beautiful Batu Kawan jetty. You drive from Penang Island, cross the Penang Bridge and then exit to Bukit Tambun and continue to Batu Kawan, passing by the Batu Kawan Stadium. The area looks deserted but continue to a big roundabout and the road will lead you to go to the top of a small hill. You will see "antique looking" road lamps. At the top, you can park. No parking fees was charged when we were there.

There is a flight of steps to walk down to the seafront jetty. Alternatively, use the pedestrian tarred road. Boat tickets are RM3 each way. It is run by Persatuan Nelayan (Fishermen Association) of Pulau Aman.

Boat schedule is between 10am and 6pm daily. Frequency can be as fast as every 15 minutes especially on busy weekends. On weekdays, the printed schedule is 4 times per day.

The boat can take 20 people or so and did see that the boatmen limit the number of people per trip. Good sign. There are bright orange life jacket on board.

The sea was calm. It was bright sunny day. Took less than 15 minutes each way. Fun. Exercise caution when getting on and off the boat. And don't drop your camera into the sea.
