Palatul Kretzulescu was built in 1902 to be the residence of Princess Elena Kretzulescu. . Its architect was Petre Antonescu. In 1927 it was purchased by the Romanian government. from 1928 to 1929 it was the office of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. then, from 1929 to 1946, it was the Museum of Religious Art. Since 1972 it has been the office of the UNESCO European Centre for Higher Education.
