For a laid back Indian cuisine and inexpensive dining experience, Passions of Kerala does an excellent job! They not only make excellent vegetarian meals and curry, but it is also a dining experience to remember. I am sure you will not be disappointed with the food, the price, the ambience and excellent services that provide you a truly wonderful inexpensive dining experience at PASSIONS OF KERALA (Burmah Square)!
The vegetarian set is the standard banana leaf rice set that most banana leaf restaurants serve. However it is one of the best banana leaf rice I had eaten. The set came with rice, vegetable curry, and pickles. All this was served on the traditional banana leaf.
For the curry to go with the rice, the main choices are chicken, fish and mutton curry. I prefer mine with the Chicken Masala, which was pretty good and spicy .I am sure the Mutton Curry is nice too BUT! I don't like mutton, so I haven't tried mutton curry. In addition to that we also had the fried fish which was superb especially with the fish roe. The good thing about this place is that they usually fry the meat just as you order it. So, the food comes hot and crunchy.
Another recommendation! Something special and deliciously refreshing side dish is Fried Bittergourd… I love bittergourd but up till then, I never knew how delicious deep fried bittergourd tasted… highly recommended. Surprisingly doesn’t taste bitter at all, but tasted like Fried Banana Chips.
