You can book up excursions to go out into the desert, by camel, or quad biking etc. However you do it i recommend it as you'll get to meet the local Bedouin people and see how vast this great land is. Prepare to come back with as much dust and sand on you that you'd thought you'd have been stripping 1920's wall plaster down and refitting your house, but well worth it for the experience of a life time.
