"THERMAL BATHS, HOT SPRINGS" Las Piscinas de La Virgen Tip by swesn

Las Piscinas de La Virgen, Baños: 10 reviews and 20 photos

'Banos' means baths.

Due to the volcanic nature of the region here, Banos and nearby towns are home to several thermal baths. There is one right in town called Agua Santa or Banos de la Virgen, near the town's waterfall.

There are several pools of different temperatures and sizes. Frankly, some are TOO HOT (42C)!! I could not bear to dip my feet in them. The one that is 'just nice' in my opinion (38C) is in the open-air and actually provides a lovely view of the town's waterfall tumbling down eternally. So, it was just perfect!

The colour of the water is well... odd. There were turqoise or murky light-brownish colours. Well, I consoled myself these somewhat disgusting-looking colours must be from the mineral contents.
