o'gilins: "nice irish style pub." Lisbon Nightlife Tip by cachaseiro

  o'gilins pub.
by cachaseiro

o'gilins is a nice quiet little bar near the harbour that has a good blend of locals and expats.
it's not a fancy place at all, but a laid back little dark bar and that is why i like the place.
it's not a big loud place to go daniscing but more a place where you enjoy a quiet beer.
it's located just before a fairly steep hike up to barrio alto (the old part of lisbon) so you can take a rest and have a beer there just before heading up the hill.

Dress Code: this is not a fancy place so no dress code.

Address: rua dos remulares 8
Directions: next to the rio tejo just below barrio alto.
Theme: Other

Review Helpfulness: 4.5 out of 5 stars

You have to visit Pensão Amor, just in the street behind O'Gilins. It's nothing like an Irish Pub mut it is a bar with an unique atmosfere.

Let me tell you a little more about the two places I told you about.<br><br>Pensão Amor (in Englihs it will be something like Love Guesthouse) used to be a brothel (in the beginning of 19 century) , and still has many of its original features like the pole dance room. Nowadays it is a bar (without anything nasty about it!), it's a unique place with an amazing atmosfere. I googled about it so you can figure it out:<br><br><a href="" rel="nofollow" class="ealink" target="_blank"></a><br><br><a href="" rel="nofollow" class="ealink" target="_blank"></a><br><br>A little bit far from Cais do Sodré, O'Gilins and Pensão Amor is Pavilhão Chinês. It's another unique place but without the kinky story and atmosfere of Pensão Amor. Pavilhão Chinês it's like a museum, ir has lots of litle figures about everything, like a big collection.<br>In the link you could see some photos:<br><br><a href="" rel="nofollow" class="ealink" target="_blank"></a><br><br>If you want to visit Pavilhão Chinês notice the schedule! Its open only in the evening from 6pm till 2am.<br><br>Hope I got your curiosity!
