Göteborg Things to Do: 334 reviews and 562 photos
Gustav Adolf Square is a square in the center of Gothenburg. It was earlier called The Big Square but it got it's name officially in 1959. It has though been called Gustav Adolf Square by the people in Gothenburg since 1854 when the sculptor Bengt E. Fogelberg put a statue of the former king Gustav II Adolf (the king who gave Gothenburg its city priviligies in 1621) in the centre of the square.
Around the square is in east Nordstan (the big shopping center), west the city hall, north the Börsen (where the town council resides) and south you find one of the channels.
