  • A Day at the Spa - Isla de Tenerife

What more can the busy, frazzled girl or boy ask for than a day out at the spa; and where is one of Europe's top three spas of the moment only at the Abama Hotel and Resort in Tenerife.

I was lucky enough to be staying at this hotel, but I am informed that the spa is open to non residents by appointment.

I would strongly recommend the spa experience as a totally relaxing way to spend an afternoon. One entire area of this three storey spa is devoted to this activity.

The Spa Experience consists of an approximately two hour stint divided between various different steam rooms (herbal steam room, hamman etc), an African sauna, a tropical rain shower, an icy mist shower, an enormous massage pool with perhaps 6 different water massage functions (including an amazig one at the end which uses different gently coloured lights to relax), an icy pool to firm calf muscles, and hot relaxation stone tables with personal headphones playing chillout restful music). You can wander out to the private garden if the weather suits (and usually it does) or sip a glass of lemongrass or lavender flavoured water to hydrate you between steam rooms.
