The Top of the Town Restaurant has been a part of the local scene for a very long time with only one name change as far as I can recall (it was previously known as "The Phoenician Restaurant".
I believe it has always been run by the very affable Johny Ghandour who has been in the business for 28 years.
The decor doesn't seem to have changed a great deal over the years either with polished pine wall panelling and mediterannean red terracotta floor tiles. For me, it's like stepping back in time and reliving the 70's right down to the decadic dial phone which requires a deft digit for dialling out!
They offer A La Carte, Grill or Smorgasbord dining and are very popular for group bookings including weddings. Sunday is smorgasbord night which costs $22 for adults and $10 for kids under 12. It's an all you can eat affair which I now take as an offer and not a challenge!
Great value and a good selection of freshly prepared mediterranean style dishes including beef, chicken, fish, various hot vegetable dishes and crispy salads. Once you've had your main meal you can finish off with dessert, including fresh fruit and a cheese platter.
Tea and coffee is included in the price of the smorgasbord.
Occasionally, they have a Lebanese smorgasbord night complete with some local "belly dancers" for your viewing pleasure.
The restaurant is licensed with it's own bar area for pre dinner drinks at reasonable prices. Because it is located on the 4th floor there are really good views over Bunbury to enjoy. If you make a booking please request a window table. I'm certain Johny will oblige if he can.
Update 18th February 2008: Sadly, the Top of the Town Restaurant has closed down after some three decades of filling bellies. There is talk that may re-open at a new location in town but I will have to let you know later if and when that happens.
