Cuban, Vietnamese & Mexican Mecca!: "Cuban, Vietnamese & Mexican Food Mecca!" Fort Smith Restaurant Tip by birdmanimal

Fort Smith Restaurants: 13 reviews and 22 photos

Fort Smith, a land of many influences. Although unknown to most outsiders (and many locals), the Army base, Ft. Chafee, in the city of Ft. Smith served as a haven and operations base for refugees from the Vietnam War in the 1970's and Castro's Cuba in the 1980's. Many of these folks hung around, and the food culture they created is incredible. Add in the "Texican" influence, and let the flavors run wild. You'll have to venture just outside of downtown on any major street, and you will find little restaurants and cafes that serve up these great foods. DON'T WORRY-some may look unwelcoming from the outside, but they want your business and company and are completely clean and safe. IMAGINE DINING IN HAVANA OR HANOI IN ARKANSAS? In Fort Smith, you can.
