Land Schleswig-Holstein Transportation: 5 reviews and 21 photos

The Schwebefaehre in Rendsburg is an interesting means of transportation, because it is a car- and passengerferry that is not swimming, but it is hanging down on thick ropes from the bridge above and that way it can get across the Kielcanal within a very short time.
This ferry dates back to the year 1913 and is 14 meters long and 6 meters wide, it may carry 4 ordinary cars or 1 large truck and plenty of pedestrians and cyclists / bikers.

The ferry is in service daily from 5a.m. till 11p.m.
every 15 minutes it will go at
00 + 15 + 30 + 45 minutes after the full hour from South
07 + 22 + 37 + 52 minutes after the full hour from North

Like all the other ferries across the Kiel-Canal it is totally free of charge for cars and pedestrians, simply because the canal is artificial and interrupted many streets and hiking-paths, when it was built !

Type: Ship/Boat
