  Ribat and wachtower

The Ribat is a fort built by devout Islamic warriors that spent their time between fighting and studying the Quran. It is the oldest building of the Medina, built during the 8th century a.C. The wachtower was added later in order to control better all the Medina. Of course it was a defensive purpouse but this tower gives you the best views of the city (photographic purposes :-) )
