"in the caribbean it is common..." Caribbean and Central America Local Custom Tip by ausetkmt

in the caribbean it is common for people to stop and chat to eachother when meeting on the street. If you are invited into visit with a family, remember to carry a gift of Fruit, or some freshly purchased Flowers or Veggies.

When comming to Dinner it is assummed that the person comming is a guest due the finest of the household, and knowing that you will be treated well, when invited means that you should remember the kindness of your hosts.

I have given gifts of Tia Maria, Wine, Rum, large baskets of Gynip, Pineapple, Bananas and even Freshly Caught Fish when coming in from a costal city to visit a friend Inland who may not get Fresh Fish Daily.

Being a good guest, insures getting invited back, and don't forget to invite your hosts to visit you at your home. Don't be suprised when they do, Caribbean People travel a great deal, and love to 'Go A Foreign'.
