Peasant Wine Bar: "For a really cute date place..." Peasant Tip by ctorres1979

Peasant, New York City: 2 reviews and 1 photos

We had a double date this past week and after some research of where to go decided on Peasant. Its on the lower east side so finding parking is kind of tough. But once you find it and walk inside we realized it was worth the trip. At the back of the restaurant is an open hearth type brick kitchen and the best smells coming out of it. The walls of the dining room are also brick so it has a very rustic feeling.

The food was very good but not as nice as the ambience of the restaurant. It kind of depends on what you order because out of the items we ordered about half were some of the best dishes that I've ever tasted but the other half just weren't.

Favorite Dish: Supposedly the pork is supposed to be the thing to get here.., I don't agree. Some of the best dishes were the gnocchi with rabbit, seppie (cuttlefish) appetizer, and bucatini with lobster, also roasted sardines...

Great wines choices also, good price ranges as well
