"Sun Block not a problem here but shoes are!" Toiletries/Medical Supplies Tip by Cairo46

Toiletries/Medical Supplies, Cairo: 13 reviews and 8 photos

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Do not buy shoes in Egypt!!! Most of the shoes you see are poorly made, even if they look good they won't last. Any shoes that are logo type are probably knock offs. Bring your own. For evening bring low heels or nice sandals. Sidewalks are not great for high heels and the driveways are lower than sidewalk level. Locals walk in the street.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: There is now a product here by Biotherm that is 100 SPF sun block. Most of the better pharmacies have it. It costs about 105 LE. As far as medicines go, bring any prescription drugs you use with you. Some drugs, like Fosamex, Zanax and others are here now. Others are not. The laws regarding dispensing of drugs will be changing so it might be a good idea to bring a prescription from your doctor for any drugs you take that are not over-the-counter.

Miscellaneous: Although drinking water is no longer a big problem, it's better to buy bottled water to be safe.
