The Szent György square is maybe the most important historical square in Budapest. It was allways the scene of crucial historical events, like the decapitation of Hunyadi László, brother of king Matthias. Hundred years ago, until the end of the second world war this square was the most beautiful in Budapest: beyond the Chloster of the Carmelites and the Sándor palace (Alexander palace) we could find here the Royal stables, the huge palaist of the palatine, the national defense ministry and of course the coach park of the King. Sadly after the devastation of the second world war the communism and the communists made an even bigger destruction. They pulled down the saveable, only partially damaged fantastic historical buildings, and nowdays the western part of the square is completely empty. Maybe the only positive aspect of all this idiotism was that the very old medieval cellars, constructed from the X.century could be rediscovered and restored....-->
