"Tivoli Gardens" Tivoli Tip by SWFC_Fan
Tivoli, Copenhagen: 134 reviews and 248 photos
I spent an afternoon at Tivoli Gardens during a visit to Copenhagen in August 2007.
Tivoli Gardens is ideally located, right opposite the city's central train station and is undoubtedly a very popular attraction with tourists and locals alike.
To be honest, I was a little disappointed with Tivoli Gardens. I suppose I expected more for the entrance fee of 79Kr (approx. 8 GBP). The entrance fee includes just that - entrance to the site. All rides and attractions have to be paid for separately once inside the park.
There are lots of rides and attractions to choose from, many of which are aimed at children. These include:
- a ferris wheel
- a boating lake
- bumper cars
- an aquarium
- arcade games
There is also a concert hall, a music pavilion, an open air stage, a pantomime theatre and a theatre hall.
At night, on certain days of the week, there are fireworks and illumination displays.
There are ice cream kiosks, popcorn vendors and a handful of souvenir and gift shops.
However, on a warm Sunday afternoon, there was nothing that really grabbed my attention. I walked around a nice lake (which features a restaurant located on a large ship), I wandered through pretty gardens, bought fast food in a small Chinatown area of the park and browsed the various restaurants offering all manner of international food, while watching rollercoasters hurtle past overhead.
I just didn't find anything that excited me. It's a great place if you've got kids, but if you're a 20-something male, your money would perhaps be better spent visiting the Carlsberg brewery. Twice!
