"Belgrade Zoo" Belgrade Zoo Tip by Gottsie

Belgrade Zoo, Belgrade: 16 reviews and 37 photos

In Kalemegdan Park you can also find Belgrade Zoo. The Zoo is home to over 2,000 animals and 200 species. The living conditions are poor. It is even home to household pets such as dogs in cages, and all animals are living in small cramped cages. Built in 1936, this zoo is the Oldest in Europe.

It is not a member of any global Zoo association and by European standards should be at least 20 hectares however it only has 6. Located in Central Belgrade with too much concrete surrounding it producing lots of heat and fumes from the nearby busy roads, this is no place to keep animals.

There was talk of the Zoo being moved to another site-i hope this happens.
