"Crossing border to Italy" Slovenia Tourist Trap Tip by sabrepoint

Slovenia Tourist Traps: 32 reviews and 25 photos

Non-EU citizens can't get across border at Nova Gorica train terminal. Guards tell you to go elsewhere. This is the train you can take from Lake Bled station to Italy border.

Unique Suggestions: I think you've got 3 options:
1) Sneak across square opposite train station. Unmanned as far as we could tell - just pretend you didn't read the signs (which aren't prominent anyway).
2) Wait for International Bus. This is supposed to run hourly and takes you through correct border post.
3) Walk (same direction as train came - south I think) past first border post (they won't let you through here) along cycle path adjacent to railway until you cross quite a large post under, about 1 km from train I guess. Find your way down to this. DON'T go 3 km as we were told, where you may find a third post ... they won't let you in there either.

Fun Alternatives: Well, it's quite fun getting lost. Best wait for Int bus I guess, or use entirely different access to Italy. But the train ride from Bled is really cool through the little Julian Alps villages!
