Okay, so you're coming in by plane. That means you're probably coming into San Francisco International (SFO). If that's the case, then horray, you're going to be landing in one of the WORST on-time airports in the galaxy. Don't be too surprised if you're in a holding pattern for an hour before landing (if your flight isn;t cancelled). At least you'll get a nice long arial tour of the Bay Area!

Don't be too surprised if, when you land, two things happen: you think you're going to crash into the Bay and that they plane comign down beside you is going to as well. Don't worry about it, because the runways extend out into the Bay so you'll be over water until the last 20 feet before landing, ot so. Additionally, the parallel runways are so close together (750ft) that you can wave at the other passengers (the ones that aren't screaming in fear, anyway), as you land.

Getting to the city ain't so fancy. The regional transit system (BART) is being constructed to the airport, but it's behind schedule, so you're gonna have to hoof it in a cab. Whatever, it's only like 20-30 minutes at non-rush hour. Check out the surprisingly half-decent SFO website (www.sfoairport.com) for all your other info, like what to do at the airport when your departing flight is delayed 3 hours because of fog.
