Warsaw Things to Do: 1,446 reviews and 3,023 photos

Sculpted by B. Thorvaldsen in 1832. In 1834, the Tsar of Russia published a special decree to stop its inauguration and ordered to transfer it to the Modlin Fortress. Then he gave it to General Ivan Paskiewicz who installed it in his mansion in Homel. The monument returned in Poland in 1922. Completely destroyed during the war. The new casting was a gift to Warsaw from the inhabitants of Copenhagen.
