A new addition to Dubai's road system is the 300m long Floating Bridge ,which crosses the Creek between Garhoud and Makhtoum bridges, coming out beside City centre in Deira. At first it seems like any other bridge ,apart for the gilded decoration, until suddenly you realise you are almost touching the water.
The bridge was opened in August 2007. It can carry 3000 vehicles per hour on its six lanes. in an attempt t to reduce congestion It is open to road traffic from 8am to 10pm because at night the bridge opens to allow ships to enter the creek.
Some of the creek cruise companies have complained that the bridge restricts their tours.

Directions: crossing the creek at Deira.
