The PO LIN MONASTERY is the oldest Buddhist monastery in the territory and is also the site of the largest seated bronze Buddha under any sky. The statue was welded together from over 200 individually cast bronze plates. Weighing 250 tons and sitting at 34 metres high, it gazes serenely over wooded valleys and rocky hills, towards the South China Sea. The adjoining Po Lin Monastery serves the steady stream of pilgrims vegetarian meals
