Al Hussein Mosque, Cairo: 9 reviews and 18 photos

Imam Hussein was the grand son of Prophet Mohammad. He was killed and his head cut off by Yazid army. The main significance of the Mosque is the burial place of his head. His tomb chamber is visited by the believers ( man and women enter it trough separate doors) and they kiss and worship the silver screen that surrounds the grave.
The Mosque of Sayyidna Al-Husseinis is the principal congregational mosque of modern Cairo. it was built in 1154 AD but not much is left from the original.
