Muhammad Ali Mosque known also as Alabaster Mosque is a huge structure which can be seen from miles around. Its silver domes dominate the skylines of eastern Cairo.The size of the Mosque is really impressive.
It dates from the turn of the 19th century and was built according to the plans of the Sultan Ahamed Mosque in Istanbul. The lower parts of the Mosque are made from alabaster and the rest of it from the limestone.
In order to go inside you must be properly dressed and have to take your shoes of. Ladies don’t have to cover their heads.
