Derry's history dates back to the 6th century. It is called "capital of the north" and offers excellent shops, restaurant and bars. This cultural centre offers numerous festivals and markets. The city is completelly walled and offers numerous architectural gems. The city has numerous museums telling you the stories of the dark history - the town had been under siege quite often, suffered from war and riots and was site of the Bloody Sunday (1972).
