  Mersey River walk Didsbury
by janiebaxter

On a sunny day it is a pleasant walk along the River Mersey from Didsbury village towards Stockport. It takes between 2 and 5 hours depending on how far along you go.
From Didsbury village at Simon's bridge turn left along the Trans Pennine route and follow the signs along the river to Stockport. You will pass by The Waterside hotel on the Didsbury/Cheadle border, and you can stop here for a pot of tea or a beer.
You can carry on to Stockport, coming off at the pyramid, or a nicer but shorter route takes you through Heaton Mersey with an option of visiting Heaton Moor.
Further refreshment stops are The Crown on Didsbury Road Heaton Mersey or Moor Top in Heaton Moor where there are a few cafes, bars and restaurants.

Address: Simon's Bridge, Didsbury village.
Directions: South on A34, left to Didsbury then left into Dene Road. Walk past the allotments and you will come to the River. Follow signs for Trans Pennine route Stockport.
