"2 Days on a Dromaderie" Morocco Things to Do Tip by snapshooter

Morocco Things to Do: 725 reviews and 1,654 photos

We wanted to spend a few days in the desert, and found it rather difficult to come up with options regarding tour groups/guides that would fit our itinerary. Found Bivouac Morocco. This is an excellent, mainly family-run outfit. Alessandra and Hmad, along with
their guides, do their utmost to make the traveler's stay in the desert exciting
and interesting. Alessandra is a Brazilian lady who took a trip to the desert
years ago and fell in love with the landscape. That comes across in the earnest
effort to spread some of the passion of her experience to others.
They're based out of Hassi Labied. We took a night bus from Fez to a larger town outside of Hassi Labied, and they had someone there waiting to drive us to Hassi. Once there, we took care of all the formalities with Alessandra and Hmad and then went on our way with our guide and dromaderies. The guides are nomads who are very knowledgeable and friendly. The bivouacs are comfortable. It rained one night, and that made roughing it a bit more rough,
but Hmad and the others did everything they could to avoid the elements from
detracting from our experience.
My girlfriend is a nature fan, but I'm more of an urban hillbilly, so two days
was enough for me. Ardent lovers of desert landscape will want to stay three
days or more depending on your level of passion for it, probably, to explore the
dunes and oases. Even for a city-boy like me, I thought it was a great experience.
