"Historic Haunted Hotel" The Historic Plains Hotel Tip by edss

The Historic Plains Hotel, Cheyenne: 583 reviews and 3 photos

This hotel is definitely one of the most interesting here in Cheyenne, WY. The lobby has an interesting huge lighting fixture shaped like a tepee and you can definitely see all the beautiful details throughout the hotel. There is also the story about how the hotel became haunted to add to the experience. We had reserved three rooms and got two on the fifth floor and one on the fourth floor. We had an issue with both rooms on the fifth floor (next to each other). Neither room was cleaned and there were condoms, feces stained towels, trash, and dirty underwear present. The fourth floor room was just fine. The girl at the front desk was surprised by this and gave us two other rooms. The other thing is that the lighting is rather dim throughout all of the hallways and in the foyer of the room. The lamps in one room all had burned out light bulbs. The sheets also had gray marks (not sure if dirty or permanently stained) as did the undersides of the pillowcases. This hotel has seen better days indeed as my coworker stayed here last year without issue. The bathrooms, though, have not been updated for many years and have aging sinks, tubs, and tiles. My tub faucet even had duct tape on it.

Unique Qualities: The hotel has a nice restaurant, bar, and coffee shop. It also has the interesting reputation for being haunted so if you are into ghost sightings you definitely want to stay here. It is conveniently located downtown in a very central location to much of the historic part of the city. In all of our rooms there was a bible open to Psalms 68-71
