Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen was born in this house on March 30, 1818 as the seventh child of the city mayor Gottfried Raiffeisen and his wife Amalia Susanne Maria and lived in Hamm (Sieg) till he was seventeen years old.
The museum was dedicated on March 30, 2000 after two years of thorough work of the local patriots society.
Two rooms of the museum serve as an office of the present city mayor of Hamm (Sieg).
