"The Wild Parrots--A sight to see!" Flora & Fauna Tip by VeronicaG
Flora & Fauna, San Francisco: 9 reviews and 16 photos
After traipsing around San Francisco all day, our final destination was Telegraph Hill.
We had already walked many miles that afternoon, but the wild parrots were something we did NOT want to miss. They were the subjects of a movie, THE WILD PARROTS OF TELEGRAPH HILL, which roused our interest in these creatures.
After we rode the elevator to the top of the COIT TOWER, we crossed a street leading to the top of Telegraph Hill. We chose to take the steps (at Filbert Street), rather than the sidewalk which eventually turned back on itself, meeting us at a lower point in our descent.
As we neared the bottom, we heard the wild parrots. Perched at the tree tops, they called to each other and perhaps scolded us below. They sported bright green feathers with a dab of red accent--brilliant patches of color amid the greenery.
After ogling the birds, we dragged ourselves towards Broadway with throbbing feet and grumbling stomachs, finally grabbing a taxi for the last few blocks to our hotel.
