On the coast on Flamborough Head is a large white lighthouse that has limited opening. Quite a long climb to the top ( not possible for the elderly or disabled) there are good views over the area and out to sea. There is a mapping system that shows every vessel off the headland and a film show showing the history of lighthouses.
The lighthouse was automated and the last staff members left in the 1996. It was built in 1806 and contnues to guide ships in the North Sea as they ply their way to ports in Europe and the Baltic.
A minimum height restriction of 3'3" (1 meter) applies.
The website has details of opening times and admission prices.

Directions: On Flamborough Head. 100 bus from Bridlington (open top in the summer). On the B1259.
