I have answered already several questions of what the hell to do in Tbilisi in August? Well in short i can say there is not much cultural thing going on.. theatres have closed or gone to seaside (batumi, kobuleti), art galeries are drowzy, all ballerinas and prominent georgian musicians have escaped the heat and gone west ( to sea, to europe etc). one thing to do is to mingle on Shardin Street, there are a lot of outdoor cafes, with vast amounts of expats, sometimes pretty nice coffee, good brown cakes (at cafe cashe) and some live music (shardin cafe). if you are more prone to dance to some latino music go to Perovskaia and find a pub, Dublin or Profile. also full of expats. but the best thing to do when arriving in tbilisi in august is to go to mountains! Mtskheta ( nearby city) very nice, with beautiful nature, aicient churches, chilly and really relieving in summer! or for the heavens sake go to the seaside - batumi and kobuleti have become quite a buzz place for international tourists from all over the places! p.s. you can get a cheap trian to the seaside.
