Die Pfarrkirche Zun Heiligen Kreuz translates into the Parish Church of the Holy Cross. The Church was first mentioned in 1398 several rebuilds followed - She was finally rebuilt and completed in 1772-1775 and concecrated by the Bishop Ferdinand Christof on the 20th. October 1777. The Church was designed in Baroque style by Andre Hueber. We didn't go inside because the local people were paying their respect to an elderly lady who had passed on. The Church yard is interesting and very peaceful, here you will find two little Chapels one is called Die Dorfwirtskapelle - the Inn Keeper's Chapel. I had read in my Going Guest Magazine that the Church has a second Patron Saint - Saint Laurentius this led me to question who was the first. Surely it couldn't be The Holy Cross? I e mailed the tourist office for some help and yes it was - apparently connected to Saint Helena who brought 3 wooden crosses back from Jerusalem one being the true Holy Cross. A very beautiful Church in pale cream and white with its onion dome - it blends beautifully with the mountain scenery. Special thanks to the Going Tourist Office.
Directions: The Church is at the village centre
