Galway is with a population of over 65,000 one of the biggest cities of Ireland. It once was as a small fishing village on the River Corrib. The name derives from Galvia, a mythological princess. The village became fortified by the Normans and is today a cosmopolitan city with numerous attractions like the 14th-century church of St. Nicholas in which Christopher Columbus heard a mess a few year before his voyage to America.
The nightlife is excellent. We walked through the centre and could hear from almost every pub life music.
