Having a lunch or a dinner at Rainforest Cafe is not a 'To do' tip exactly, but I thought it is better produced here than under restaurant for the attractions that this place offers.
We have been to Rainforest Cafes in Chicago (off Michigan Avenue), Woodfield Mall (North of Chicago), and Orlando. This one is located in the beautiful and ever expanding Yorkdale Plaza off Highway 401 in Toronto East. The Yorkdale Paza itself offers many upscale stores selling branded products.
Rainforest Cafe produces a a lush jungle environment with special effects involving a mother elephant and her calf charging during a thunderstorm. Other moving animals include Gorillas and Alligator. Besides, there are fish in super-bowls appearing like columns and celing beams.
We found service to be friendly and prices reasonable for the food and entertainment that we had. We had ordered Seafood Galapagos, Lobster Steak and Shrimp, crab cake, Tribal cedar Salmon, Tuscan Salmon, fish and chips, shrimp platter, and volcano. We requested the last item in the end. The effect of a volcano erupting was very well done.
As usual, while exiting, all of us did some souvenier shopping at the gift shop.
The best part was that my children came back in awe and started reading older issues of National Geographics that had covered rainforests of different parts of the world.
