"Acadia National Park" Maine Things to Do Tip by Florida999

Acadia National park is part of Mount Desert Island and has some really great hiking trails, some up the not very high "mountains" , some along the coast. All are very scenic. We visited "Sand Beach" which looked nice, but there is no way any of us would go swimming in the 56 degree water !!! Some people did, brrr!!! I only stuck my toes in it.
Thunder hole was interesting. It is a rock formation where waves crash into this cave and it sounds like thunder. It reminded me of "Dragons' Mouth" at Yellowstone, except no smoke.
Otter Cliffs are awesome, and there is a trail along the beach from Sand Beach to Otter Point with great views.
Wildwood Stables offers carriage rides, but we only went to look at the horses. I might want to do that when I am 80, if I am still around then.
