One of the stops I really enjoyed in the Canyon De Chelly National Monument was the Antelope House Overlook. The Anasazi people settled this site starting with pit houses in about 700 AD. The remains you see now where constructed about 1250 AD. The Anasazi developed their skills at farming, raising cotton and corn in the fertile soil, raising livestock, making pottery and improving their hunting ability by making bows and arrows. There are a number of ancient drawings by the Antelope House. The Navajo (or "Dineh" meaning the people) still farm the area right by the ruins. This stop is well worth your time.
