Albert Heijn: "Picnic lunch" Maastricht Restaurant Tip by mam3206

Rather than eating in a restaurant or grabbing a sandwich at Bufke's, I preferred to eat picnic lunches. I would go to the Albert Heijn on Plein 1992 in the morning to buy a roll, cheese, yogurt, a piece of fresh fruit, nuts or dried fruit, and a bottle of water. Periodically throughout the day I would stop at a park and have a snack. Some of my favorite places to picnic were the Charles Eyckpark in the Ceramique District on the east side of the Maas, or any of the parks in the Jekerkwartier. I love wandering through grocery stores in countries other than my own, especially when I don't know the language. It's a great opportunity to get out of the tourist area and see how the locals live.
