"The Tiny Chapel on the hill" Ellmau Things to Do Tip by scottishvisitor

Maria-Heimsuchungs Kapelle is a big name for such a pretty and tiny Church also known as the Visitation of Mary Chapel or the Holy Mary Chapel. Whatever her name, she is the emblem of Ellmau, constructed in 1719 - 1721 and designed by Johann Kaisermann. The Church was completely renovated in 1988 - 1990. We didn't visit inside, sadly it was closed when we were here but if you do get a chance go inside - look out for the baroque altar with its alarpiece depicting the visitation of Mary by Alois Wagner. One regret I do have was missing the Reigious folk songs which take place here on Friday evenings at 20.00 we were late back from a day trip and were leaving the next day - if only we had more time!
While looking on the internet for a picture of the interior I found the little Chapel in the snow - I did wonder if the white washed church would disappear but no = now I long to visit here in Winter - magical!
Address: Vetterstaff stroll
Directions: A short stroll up the hill through Kapellen park
